What is the Eco-Meet?
Modeled after the high school Envirothon, the Eco-Meet brings teams of middle school students together to compete in a variety of fun and challenging hands-on testing stations conducted by CSRA Environmental Science Education Cooperative (ESEC) members. The Eco-Meet was developed by the CSRA ESEC to generate enthusiasm and excellence in environmental education.Who can participate?

Eco-Meet 2008 will be held at the Watson-Brown Foundation campus, 310 Tom Watson Way, Thomson, GA. DIRECTIONS: From the East: Take I-20 westbound to the Thomson exit #172. At the top of the exit ramp turn left (south) onto US 17/Washington Road; at the intersection with Tom Watson Way (about 5 miles) take a right. Just past the cemetery is Bethany Drive, turn right onto Bethany. Teams should be let off the bus at the gate. Car parking is located on Bethany Drive inside the fenced area behind the cemetery. Buses should continue up Bethany, take a left on Rose Lane, turn left on Camellia Ct and park behind the Foundation campus (follow the signs).How do we register for the 2008 Eco-Meet?
Registration begins January 4, 2008 and costs $25 per team (3-4 students, grades 6-8). To register a team for your school, contact Michelle Zupan, Eco-Meet Coordinator, at 706-595-7777, or mzupan@hickory-hill.org. The Eco-Meet is limited to 30 teams, but each school may enter more than one team.

Important Information
- Only students enrolled in grades 6 through 8 or equivalent home school ranking are eligible to compete.
- The team registration form along with payment must be received by April 20, 2007.
- Each team must have a designated team coach, who must accompany the team to the meet. A coach may serve more than one team. It is the responsibility of the school or organization to provide proper chaperones for the team. The CSRA ESEC assumes no responsibility for improperly chaperoned teams.
- A team must be composed of three or four students from the same school or organization.
- Registration will begin January 4 and initially will be limited to 2 teams per school. Registration will open to all schools after April 2, 2007. At that time, schools may register up to 2 additional teams until the event limit of 30 teams is reached.
- All team coaches will be made aware of any changes in procedures or rules prior to the competition. It is the coachs responsibility to ensure that the team members are aware of any changes to the rules.
- Study guide materials will be mailed upon receipt of completed registration forms after January 2, 2007.
- One set of study materials per registered team will be sent to the schools. Coaches can make copies of the materials for their team members if they so desire.
- This years competition will include a poster project, to be completed and submitted by each team the morning of the event. Guidelines for the poster project will be included in the study packets.
- Scores will be combined after the last event. The team that receives the highest cumulative score will be the competition winner.
- Each station will have a first place winner. There will be first, second, and third place winners for the overall Eco-Meet and every team member will receive a certificate of recognition. All decisions of the judges are final. The coaches will be given a final score sheet after the event.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Lunch will be provided for team members and coaches. Parents and other guests should bring their own lunches and drinks.
- Dress appropriately for outdoor activities. The Eco-Meet will be held rain or shine.
- Supplies: Each team should bring a clipboard and pencils.
